I had an amazing time at 2nd Floor Events’ open house this past weekend. The weather was gorgeous, it was mid-day and everyone seemed to be in good spirits. Among the restaurants, bars and lounges along the King West strip, 2nd Floor Events is a hidden gem of a venue – unique, fun, cool and laid-back vibe about it.
It’s such an inviting space and you could do so much with it in terms of decor. I am huge on ambience and it was immediate venue-love at first sight. We were treated to “endless mimosa” at the long bar (they ran out of grapefruit and only had black-currant (?) left and it was oh-so-good) and a few nibbles, such as this delectable “miso glazed black cod.” Nothing short of amazing in term of food and bev.
The vendors that were exhibiting that day were top-notch, some of the best of the best in the industry. We were in for such a treat, catching up with familiar vendors while meeting new ones. We never tire of ooh-ing and ahh-ing over Ferris Wheel Press‘ iconic stationary and unique designs. Quality invitations at its finest! It resonates closely with what Wonder Chic Events is all about – producing magical and heartfelt moments and parties that are whimsy, chic and fun!

Desmond & Beatrice are well-known for their scrumptious cupcakes. I had popped into their store even before I became a planner. Tried their raspberry one was yummy. I totally wanted to try their lemon and dark chocolate one as well, but there were still so many people we didn’t get around to chatting yet at that point!
Susan Findlay of Scarlet’s Table was such a sweetheart! We loved her floral and accent pieces. Definitely excited to see what she has in stock as I definitely want to pick up some pieces to add to Wonder Chic’s growing rental inventory!
We can’t say enough good things about Nadia of Nadia & Co. Fusing fine art and pastry mastery, you are in for a sweet treat! If you love her cakes, you’ll adore le macaron.
I’ve been following Paula Lee Calligraphy on instagram for a period of time now and it was lovely to meet Paula in person. I took a short class on calligraphy and let me tell you from experience – it is not as easy as it looks. It takes hours and hours of practice! Isn’t her work amazing?
Our last vendor stop before we headed out! Roadside Florist is 2nd Floor’s in-house florist. I was drawn to her beautiful, organic garden set-up and was so glad we got a chance with Carrie – and although I do not claim to be an artist, we definitely share the part of being daydreamers. Check out her website for more of her fab work!
And that concludes our visit to 2nd Floor Events. Holds 180 seated and 350 standing. Price varies depending on the day of the week and time of day for the event. A great option for the urban couple to host their wedding in a downtown venue, who enjoys a fun atmosphere and have a flair for personalization!
